Commuters often tell us they want to ride the bus or carpool to work, but they worry about possible emergencies. What if your child gets sick and needs to be picked up from school, and you’re stuck without a car? What if you need to get home in a hurry for some kind of emergency?

Guarantee Ride Home provides a safety net for area commuters who don’t drive themselves to work. This program can provide up to two free cab rides per year if you get sick or have a personal emergency and need a ride home during the workday. The Guaranteed Ride Home service is designed to encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation.

If you use one of these modes of transportation to get to work on a regular basis, you may be eligible for Guaranteed Ride Home:

  • Vanpool.
  • Carpool.
  • Bicycle.
  • Johnson County Transit (The JO).

To register for this service you must work in the MARC nine-county area, be at least 18 years old and register for Guaranteed Ride Home.
